鈥淎khmatova's Orphans. Disassembly鈥 (2024, 70 min.) is a documentary that follows four Leningrad poets 鈥 Joseph Brodsky, Evgenii Rein, Anatoly Naiman, and Dmitrii Bobyshev 鈥 whom Anna Akhmatova called her 鈥渕agic choir.鈥 After her death, they became known as the 鈥淎khmatova orphans.鈥 In this film directed by Yuri Leving, the poets reflect on the origins of the 鈥渙rphans鈥 myth, their literary careers, and the fractures in their friendships. It is a story of memory, poetry, and the passage of time.

Hosted by the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures. Co-sponsored by the Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages and CREEES (Center for Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies.
