Lecture topics include: diachronic evolution of seseo, applications of voseo in Latin-American Spanish, origins of usted, origins of zeta, and influence of other languages in contact with Spanish.
Eva Núñez, Ph.D., is Professor of Spanish Linguistics at Portland State University, Oregon. Her main field of research focuses on descriptive linguistics (phonetics, syntax and history of Spanish language) and on applied linguistics. Her recent publications include Fundaments of the History of the Spanish Language (Yale U. Press, 2012), and Spanish Phonetics and Phonology, (Lincom, 2012, 2nd ed.).
