Asia - Latin America Reading Group: A conversation with Doris Moromisato

The Asia-Latin America Reading Group is excited to invite you to a conversation with Japanese-Peruvian writer Doris Moromisato.
The event will be held on Thursday, February 23, at 1:00pm PT on Zoom.
The discussion will be conducted in Spanish and English. (Live interpretation will be available.)
Doris Moromisato was born in Lima in 1962. Her parents were Japanese immigrants from Okinawa to Peru. A poet, fiction writer, and essayist, she has published four books of poetry: Morada donde la luna perdió su palidez (1988), Chambala era un camino (1999), Diario de la mujer es ponja (2004), and Paisaje terrestre (2007). She has also authored two books of chronicles: Okinawa. Un siglo en el Perú (2006) and Crónicas de mujeres nikkei (2019). In 2006, she was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for Okinawa, and for forty years she has dedicated herself to promoting the Asian presence in Peru and Latin America. She is the former cultural director of the Peruvian Book Chamber and currently works at Kimochi Cultural Management, a space for innovation and creativity.
