CMEMS: Luis CastellvÃ
Organized and hosted by the Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (CMEMS).
Luis Castellvà Laukamp received his PhD in Spanish literature from the University of Cambridge in 2017, and he currently works as Professor at Manchester University. He is the author of the monograph Hispanic Baroque Ekphrasis: Góngora, Camargo, Sor Juana, which received positive reviews by well-known scholars in the field of early modern studies, such as Frederick de Armas. His teaching and research interests range widely, but mainly focus on the literatures and cultures of early modern Spain, Latin America and the Philippines. Central to his academic work are the theories and practices of poetic influence, imitation and transmission of culture in the early modern Hispanic world. He has also produced translations of the works of Percy Bysshe Shelley and Clive James. We will have the pleasure of hosting him at CMEMS on May 22 at 12.00 (German Library, Pigott Hall). Anchored in the emerging field of Pacific Rim Studies, his talk will discuss the first Spanish chronicles written in Asia. We hope you will join us.
The CMEMS Workshop series meets most Wednesdays during the academic year. See the CMEMS website for the list of .
