"The Loving Moon of the Medieval World"
Situated in the ‘Global Middle Ages’, this paper examines the moon’s associations with love across a range of medieval cultural contexts. It covers Welsh, Persian, Arabic, and Indian traditions, and also addresses the comparative methodologies at the heart of this work. The paper is based on research from Ayoush’s forthcoming book with Yale University Press, The Medieval Moon: A History of Haunting and Blessing.
Comparative Methodologies is a research group that considers what it means to work comparatively in the humanities and the methodological foundations of comparatist work.
