Magic in the Web of It: On the Agency of Omens and Totems.
This talk is a reflection on the agency of artifacts using Shakespeare's Othello and Emile Durkheim's discussion of totems in his Elementary Forms of Religion.
Comparative Methodologies is a research group that considers what it means to work comparatively in the humanities and the methodological foundations of comparatist work.
