Bénédicte de Montlaur, Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy in the U.S. in conversation with
Matthew Tiews, °®åú´«Ã½ Associate Vice President for the Arts

Should governments fund the arts? If so, how should this support be provided? How do the arts and foreign policy intersect? State funding for the arts is again a subject of controversy today on both sides of the Atlantic. France's long history of centralized support for the arts makes it a useful counterpoint for recent debates about arts financing in the U.S. The Cultural Counselor of France's Embassy in the U.S. will discuss the challenges and opportunities for cultural policy today.

Co-sponsored by The Europe Center, Freeman Spogli Institute, Department of French and Italian, and °®åú´«Ã½ Humanities Center
