Abstract:
In this talk, Professor Jasmin will address the non-representational aspects of basic concepts, such as history or capitalism, and the ways in which traditions of modern thought could find rational foundation of political action in history understood as a directional oriented process. He will examine twentieth-century authoritarian interpretations of Brazilian history that provided the political language which justified the creation of the Estado Novo.
