Join us for the Winter Quarter 2025 meeting of Marxisms, a bi-weekly DLCL reading group.

We are thrilled to invite you to the next meeting of the Marxisms Reading Group onÌýTuesday next week (Feb. 25), at 2-3pm, in the Slavic Studies Library (Bldg. 240). After our enthusiastic discussion on Combined and Uneven Development last week -- and following our practice of deciding together among attendants on our subsequent reading -- next week we are going to think more about capitalist development and how it makes people experience time differently in different places. Thus we will be discussing Ernst Bloch's "Nonsynchronism and the Obligation to its Dialectics", translated by Mark Ritter (see attached). We hope to see you there!Ìý

The Marxisms Reading Group is dedicated to reading and discussing Marxist thought and Marxist approaches to aesthetics from a variety of times and places. Our focus is on how Marxist thought has both influenced and been critiqued by writers from the times and places which our members study.

New participants in the group are very welcome to join. For reading materials or questions, please contact the coordinators, João Viana (jglviana [at] stanford.edu (jglviana[at]stanford[dot]edu)) and/or Sam Page (srpage [at] stanford.edu (srpage[at]stanford[dot]edu)).
