Introducing the New Humanities in Europe
Date: May 16, 2024
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Hybrid - Room 260-252 of Pigott Hall (Bldg. 260) & Zoom
In this lecture, building on the recent publication of The Edinburgh Companion to the New European Humanities, Italian philosopher Rosi Braidotti maps out the impact of so-called "post-" human thought in European academic institutions. How does this sweeping phenomenon interface with recent developments in capitalism and nationalism in the continent? To what extent is it a pretext for dismantling critical theory?
ROSI BRAIDOTTI is a feminist Continental philosopher and Distinguished University Professor Emerita at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
