We are delighted to announce our first event of this academic year and the first of a series of talks centered around our new two-year project, “Nodes, Networks, Names: Recovering, Understanding, Representing Them”.

Assistant Professor Molly Warsh (History, University of Pittsburgh) will be discussing research related to her book in progress,American Baroque: Pearls and the Nature of Empire, 1492-1700, which explores the evolving significance of the Caribbean pearl fisheries in the context of Iberian imperial fortunes, European expansionary ambitions, and increasingly integrated global commodities markets.
