You are cordially invited to join us next Tuesday Oct. 8 at 5pm in Building 260, Room 216 for the first meeting of Trash! The Global Pop Culture Reading Group. We are truly excited to start our very own trash fall1 by reading Richard Keller Simon’s Trash Culture in parallel with the multiple renditions of Journey to the West, including the newest videogame sensation Black Myth: Wukong. Discussing the (faulted?) nature of trash culture, we will explore the tensions that arise from a very Western-centric text when compared to non-western popular traditions, a theme that makes our group (you guessed it) global! (we are worldwide2).

Maybe you are interested in theoretical discussions about what trash culture can be, or perhaps you just want to have a stress-free conversation with other fun people about the weakest link of cultural studies? If so, please join us on Oct. 8!
