I study Russian, Belarusian, and Ukrainian literature with a focus on contemporary poetry. Documentary poetry, both in Slavic and in other world languages, is one of my main research interests, as well as narrative poetry, autofiction, the Language poets and their impact on contemporary Russophone poetry, translation studies, and anthropology. My approach to literature is largely based on Comparative Studies, Decolonial studies, and Gender Studies. I also enjoy poetry translation and teaching (as a professional English teacher, I dedicated more than six years to teaching English to non-native speakers).

Outside of my academic work, I edit and publish the multilingual literary online-journal RADAR and write poetry. My recent poetry book, "The Line of Escape" (Ozolnieki : Literature Without Borders), was published in June 2024.
